SSC Results Reveal 312 Institutions With No Successful Candidates

The Ministry of Education announced on Monday that 312 educational institutions across Bangladesh failed to produce a single successful candidate in the 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations. Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon formally released the results at the ministry's conference room in Dhaka on August 10. Officials said the figures highlight growing concerns about academic performance and institutional effectiveness across several education streams.

An official analysis of the results showed a significant increase in institutions with a 100 percent failure rate compared with the previous year. The trend was most pronounced in the madrasa and technical education sectors, where the number of fully unsuccessful institutions rose sharply.

Results Breakdown

According to the ministry, 30,402 institutions participated in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations. Among them, 312 institutions recorded no passing students.

The institutions were distributed across education boards as follows:

• 57 institutions under the nine general education boards recorded a zero pass rate.

• 226 institutions under the Madrasa Education Board had no successful candidates.

• 29 institutions under the Technical Education Board failed to produce a single passing student.

• One overseas examination center also reported a zero pass rate.

Officials noted that the Madrasa Education Board accounted for the largest share of institutions where no student passed the examination.

Sharp Increase From Previous Year

The latest figures represent a substantial rise from the previous year's results. The total number of institutions with a complete failure rate increased by 303 compared with 2025.

Among the general education boards, the number of fully unsuccessful institutions rose from 48 to 57. Although the increase was relatively limited, it continued an upward trend.

The most significant change occurred within the Madrasa Education Board. Last year, 86 madrasa institutions recorded no successful candidates. This year, the figure increased to 226, representing an additional 140 institutions.

The Technical Education Board also reported a notable deterioration. No institution under the board had a zero pass rate in 2025, but 29 institutions entered that category in 2026.

“The analysis shows a considerable increase in institutions where no student passed the examination,” education officials said during the results briefing.

Examination Context

The 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations were conducted under the full syllabus and full marks system. The examinations began on April 21 and concluded on May 20.

Authorities organized the examinations at 3,885 centers nationwide. A total of 30,666 educational institutions participated in the examination process across the country.

The results were released alongside broader performance indicators. Officials reported that the overall pass rate stood at 62.25 percent, while 116,676 students achieved GPA-5. Separate analyses also showed that female students outperformed male students in both pass rates and top-grade attainment.
